Bastique is designed to protect your sensitive digital footprint fully offline. All support resources and core logic are detailed in this portal to ensure you have a flawless experience navigating your digital fortress.
Getting Started with Bastique
- Create a Master Password: Your master passphrase is the sole key used to encrypt and decrypt your vault. Make it strong, memorable, and never share it.
- Write Down Your Recovery Key: Upon the first launch, Bastique generates a 24-character Recovery Key. Store this key in a secure offline location (such as on paper). It is your only way to regain access if you forget your master password.
- Add Secrets: Navigate to any category (Logins, Cards, Documents, Signatures, etc.) and tap Add to create an entry. Detailed guides are accessible in the app under the Guide tab or in Settings → User Guide.
Frequently Asked Questions
I forgot my master password! What can I do?
Enter your 24-character Recovery Key on the unlock screen to decrypt your database and reset your master password. Because Bastique operates on a zero-knowledge model, we do not store your credentials. If you lose both your master password and your Recovery Key, your vault is permanently locked and cannot be recovered by anyone. This is the nature of absolute cryptographic privacy.
What is the login attempt limit?
Bastique includes built-in brute-force protection. If 12 consecutive failed login attempts occur, the local vault database automatically triggers self-destruction (wipes itself) to protect against local hardware theft. You can then restore your database from your encrypted backup file or by connecting another paired device in your Sync group.
How do secure E2E Sync and Sharing work?
All syncing and sharing features utilize modern end-to-end encryption. Your devices securely share a master group key locally during the pairing process. Encrypted snapshots and shared items are transmitted through our Cloudflare Workers relay as unbreakable, unreadable binary blocks. The relay server is 100% zero-knowledge, and shared packages are immediately erased once they are retrieved by the recipient (one-time secure share).
Why does Sync or Share require a Subscription Key?
Cloud synchronization and secure sharing consume server hosting bandwidth and KV cloud storage on Cloudflare. To cover relay costs, these two cloud features require a valid Subscription Key. However, ALL other core features of Bastique (offline local storage, 2FA authenticator, local OCR scanning, Wi-Fi QR, backup exporting, local health audits, and encrypted attachments) are 100% FREE and offline forever.
Are my files and PDF attachments safe?
Yes. Every file you attach inside Bastique is encrypted using its own Data Encryption Key (DEK). Decrypted copies are stored temporarily in memory or a secure temporary path only during viewing. The moment you close the app or the safety timer (TTL) expires, the app performs a complete cryptographic wipe (overwriting the disk sectors with zero bytes) to prevent forensics software from recovering remnants.
How does the local Offline Document Scanner (OCR) work?
Our Document scanner uses a private, local artificial intelligence engine. When you take a photo of a document, passport, or license card, the neural model runs directly on your device CPU/GPU to extract text. No photos are ever uploaded to third parties or remote cloud servers. It is entirely private.
