These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Bastique application and the optional online services connected to it. By installing or using Bastique, you agree to these Terms.
1. Acceptance of These Terms
By downloading, installing, or using Bastique, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the application. If you use Bastique on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to accept these Terms for that organization.
2. License to Use Bastique
Subject to these Terms, you are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to install and use Bastique on devices you own or control, for your own lawful purposes. This license does not transfer ownership of the software to you.
If you download Bastique from the Apple App Store, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement applies unless the App Store listing separately specifies a custom EULA for your region. These website Terms are not intended to replace Apple's Standard EULA unless they are separately submitted and accepted through App Store Connect.
3. The Service
Bastique is an offline-first, zero-knowledge vault. Your entries are encrypted locally on your device before any optional online feature is used. Optional online features, including encrypted synchronization, secure sharing, optional pseudonymized AI-assisted duplicate review, subscription verification, and purchase restoration, may use a relay or third-party stores when remote delivery, pairing, or entitlement verification is required.
Some online features require an active subscription. The core local vault features remain available without a sync subscription, subject to your one-time purchase of the application.
AI-assisted duplicate review is available only in the macOS and Windows desktop builds and is processed by Cloudflare Workers AI after your explicit request and first-use disclosure. It provides recommendations only. It may be inaccurate or incomplete, does not access or modify your vault directly, and does not replace your review. Bastique applies a recommendation only after local safety validation and your confirmation.
4. Your Master Password and Recovery Key
You are responsible for your master password and recovery key. Because Bastique is built on a zero-knowledge architecture, we never receive, store, or have access to them, and we cannot reset, recover, or bypass them for you.
If you lose both your master password and your recovery key, your encrypted data cannot be recovered by anyone, including us. Keep your recovery key in a safe, offline location, and maintain your own encrypted backups.
5. Purchases and Subscriptions
Bastique is a paid application, and some online relay features are offered through an auto-renewable subscription. Purchases and subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store, Google Play, or Microsoft Store, depending on where you obtained the application.
The free Linux Snap edition is a local-only distribution. It does not provide store-based subscriptions, remote relay synchronization, or remote Secure Share or cloud AI duplicate review. Direct nearby-device features remain available when devices can reach each other on the same local network.
- Prices, applicable taxes, and currencies are shown by the relevant store at the time of purchase.
- Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel them through the relevant store before the next renewal is processed.
- Subscription management, cancellation, and eligible refunds are handled through the account associated with the relevant store under that store's policies.
- Deleting the application does not automatically cancel an active subscription.
- You may restore eligible purchases through the Restore Purchases option in the application.
- Where offered by the store, Bastique Sync includes a 14-day free trial. Any separate introductory promotion for the application itself is governed by the store listing and may vary by region.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Bastique lawfully and not to:
- use the application or its relay for any unlawful, harmful, or abusive purpose;
- attempt to overload, disrupt, or gain unauthorized access to the relay or other users' data;
- circumvent security, subscription, or device-limit controls;
- reverse engineer, decompile, or modify the application except to the extent permitted by applicable law.
7. Intellectual Property
Bastique, its name, logo, design, and software are owned by the operator and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you a license to use the application, not any ownership of it. Your vault data remains yours.
8. Disclaimers
Bastique is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While it is designed with strong, authenticated encryption and privacy-focused engineering, no software or service can be guaranteed to be error-free, uninterrupted, or completely secure in every circumstance.
Secure deletion of temporary decrypted files is performed on a best-effort basis and cannot be guaranteed on all storage hardware or file systems. Optional online features depend on third-party infrastructure and network conditions outside our control.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the operator shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for any loss of data resulting from a forgotten master password or recovery key, from your own device or backups, or from circumstances beyond our reasonable control. Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you have under mandatory consumer-protection law.
10. Changes and Termination
We may update the application and these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect new features, legal requirements, or store policies. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. You may stop using Bastique at any time by uninstalling it. Uninstalling Bastique normally removes its local application data from that device, subject to the operating system's backup, storage, and restoration behavior.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of Ukraine, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights available to you in your country of residence, and without limiting the terms of the Apple App Store, Google Play, or Microsoft Store that also apply to your purchase.
